Case Study: BlueFit Casula
A top-class fitout delivered throughout Christmas and New Year’s.
Delivering When Others Switch Off
Much of the commercial sector slows down over the Christmas and New Year period. For many construction businesses, this is a time when projects pause and works resume well into January.
At Workspace 360, we take a different approach.
For clients in the fitness and wellness sector, minimising disruption to services is critical. Having delivered numerous projects in live environments, we understand how construction activity can impact operations, revenue, and customer experience. That’s why when others wind down at Christmas, we wind up.
A strong example of this approach is the major remediation and refurbishment of BlueFit’s Learn to Swim facility in Casula, NSW, delivered during the 2025–26 Christmas/New Year shutdown.
Delivering When It Matters Most
The project was undertaken during a six-week festive shutdown — a period when securing trades and resources is at its most difficult.
As Will Guile, Development Manager at BlueFit noted:
“This was an extremely challenging project involving remediation work during a 6-week shutdown in the 2025 Christmas festive season, when securing trades and resources is difficult.”
While much of the industry was offline, our team was mobilising resources, locking in suppliers, and coordinating contractors to ensure the works progressed without interruption.
BlueFit’s decision to engage Workspace 360 during this high-risk period reflects the strength of our established working relationship and their confidence in our ability to deliver under pressure.
The Challenge
The existing amenities and subfloor had deteriorated significantly due to the highly humid aquatic environment. Fixtures and finishes had degraded, and the underlying structure required substantial remediation.
Although preliminary investigations identified the need for a full strip-out, the true extent of deterioration was not fully known prior to commencement. This presented genuine risk of program delays and cost escalation — particularly within a fixed shutdown window.
The reopening date was non-negotiable.
Scope of Works
- Strip-out of existing amenities and change room areas
- Removal and replacement of the existing subfloor throughout
- Replacement and addition of floor joists where required
- Preparation and delivery of a durable, long-term solution suited to a high-humidity aquatic environment
The Approach
Comprehensive Planning & Scheduling
Success was built on detailed pre-construction planning. Trades and materials were secured well in advance of the shutdown period to mitigate industry-wide availability constraints.
BlueFit acknowledged the strength of this approach:
“Following a comprehensive planning and scheduling process, Workspace 360, led by Jaden Crick, achieved an outstanding result without any work variations, delays, or cost overruns.”
Transparent Communication
Throughout the project, daily progress updates were provided to BlueFit to maintain visibility and proactively manage risk. This ensured that any latent conditions uncovered during demolition were addressed quickly and collaboratively.
This close working relationship also enabled additional scope items to be incorporated during the program, as the project tracked on — and at times ahead of — schedule.
The Outcome
Despite the constrained shutdown window and latent site conditions, the project was delivered:
- On time
- Without variations
- Without delays
- Without cost overruns
The completed refurbishment has provided BlueFit with:
“a low-maintenance, fit-for-purpose, high-quality product, which has been welcomed by both staff and clients.”
Built on Trust and Partnership
Delivering complex remediation works during the most constrained period of the year requires more than technical capability. It requires preparation, discipline, transparency, and trust.
We thank BlueFit for their continued confidence and collaboration in delivering this outstanding result
